Vintage Masters: Metal/Glam 1987-1990 CD

VM Metal Glam

Metal and Glam intertwined with 1980s American culture in completely opposite ways.

Heavy Metal’s fan base was primarily male, blue-collar, suburban teenage “outsiders.” Millions of headbangers flocked to an all-encompassing macho sub-culture of long hair, metal-studded leather jackets and skulls galore. Ear splitting, theatrical live performances were the norm, as bands such as Judas Priest, Anthrax, Iron Maiden and Metallica blanketed audiences with a relentless auditory offensive. Sharing in name only, Glam Metal’s flamboyant, makeup wearing, effeminate, big haired superstars effused Hard Rock/Pop songs for mainstream America. Combining guitar acrobatics with memorable hooks, groups such as Def Leppard, Bon Jovi and Poison dominated the Billboard charts with party anthems and saccharine ballads from The Sunset Strip to Secaucus, NJ.

Fervor’s slice of Heavy Metal history comes from Tampa-based Lucian Blaque, cult favorites of fanzines throughout America and Europe. On the Glam side, Fervor is proud to re-release original recordings from MTV juggernaut, Jailhouse, which sold an impressive 400,000 records independently on the coattails of their smash hit, Please Come Back, included in the compilation.
