Country and Rockabilly songstress Linda Brannon was born in Harrison, Arkansas, in 1940. Her family relocated to Shreveport, Louisiana, in 1954, where Linda’s love of singing blossomed. By the time she reached Fair Park High School, Linda had one goal: a career as a singer. She began performing on local radio and TV talent shows, and by age 17, the pretty, green-eyed singer had garnered the attention of Mira Smith, owner of the Shreveport-based label and recording studio Ram Records. Smith signed Linda to the label, cutting her first Ram single, “Don’t Bother Me.” The record was an instant local hit.
Linda soon became the featured vocalist with the Delta Ramblers, performing at local clubs and lounges. She was also a regular at KCIJ radio station jamborees. By September 1957, Linda joined the legendary cast of KWKH’s Louisiana Hayride, a show known for launching some of music’s most iconic careers… including Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Willie Nelson, Johnny Mathis, Kitty Wells and the King of Rock ’n’ Roll, Elvis Presley. In October 1958, Linda broke new ground as the first woman to appear on the hugely popular New Orleans Bandstand Show. Linda’s recording career continued to thrive. After her time with Ram, she recorded for notable labels including Chess, Phillips, and Epic.
Fervor Records is proud to preserve and represent Linda Brannon’s timeless performances originally captured at Ram Records.
