Rock and blues came naturally to John Mears. The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native was born into a musical family and began writing and playing music at an early age with his siblings in The Mears Brothers (who also reside at Fervor Records). Mears formed the J Basil Band (his middle name is Basil) as a side project in the 1980s where he could stretch into rock infused Blues and Country music.
