Lost Psych Masterpiece Found in Not Suitable For Work

Four young adults lie on the floor in a circle, smiling, with "Not Suitable For Work, a new comedy from Mindy Kaling," the Hulu logo, and a nod to the Lost Psych Masterpiece vibe.

In 1969, Tempe, AZ psych-rock band Lassie recorded the album Living In The Shadow. The band booked time in Studio A of Audio Recorders of Arizona, one of the premier facilities in the Southwest. The man behind the console was none other than highly regarded engineer Jack Miller (Rolling Stones, Jefferson Airplane, Duane Eddy, Waylon Jennings).

With Miller’s expertise, the quintet, consisting of Bob Joyce, Tim Barkac, Jeff Cole, Jim Clawson, and Mark Boyles, blended stellar songwriting, lush string arrangements and vocal harmonies, with hypnotic Farfisa riffs and wandering guitar solos for a brilliant listen that truly defines the era. Somehow, the group disbanded before their eight-song opus found release.

Fervor Records discovered the lost masterpiece in the Audio Recorders archives, signed Lassie, and issued Living In The Shadow for the first time ever in 2019. Since then, the group’s music has been heard in spots for Yeti, in the film In The Weeds, and on The CW’s The Winchesters. On June 16th, their song “Getting Through” will appear in Episode 107 of the new Hulu comedy Not Suitable For Work. Stream Not Suitable For Work on Hulu, and listen to Lassie at your favorite music destination.
