In the mid 1950’s, Country music was evolving from Hillbilly to the Countrypolitan Nashville Sound. Artists and producers embraced current Pop production techniques. This gave rise to a new generation of Country Music fanatics. Country sales skyrocketed. Rockabilly was born. And by the mid 1960’s, the Bakersfield Sound topped the charts.

These distinctive musical styles were emulated in recording studios across the US, including Floyd Ramsey’s legendary Audio Recorders of Arizona in Phoenix, AZ. By 1956, Ramsey’s signature recordings were making a name for themselves on the Billboard Charts.

Numerous songwriters and artists passed through the hallowed walls of Ramsey’s studio for a shot at fame, stardom and riches. Many succeeded, including Waylon Jennings, Duane Eddy, Sanford Clark, Donnie Owens and famed Country writer Don Rollins. Country 1957 – 1969 represents some of the best Country songs and performances captured at the famed studio. The vast majority of it was commercially released on Ramsey’s labels, Liberty Bell, ARA and Ramco Records.

We learned the history of these songs through music historian John P. Dixon, a confidant and close friend of Floyd Ramsey. As always, we share these stories and tidbits with you in the enclosed liner notes.
