Keep It Funky

Enigmatic 70s and 80s Soul/Funk/R&B artist Bobby Barnes continues to shine on the Fervor Records re-issue “Keep It Funky.” Barnes bluesy, Psychedelic infused guitar work, coupled with his incredibly soulful vocals, showcase his deep grasp of Blues, Soul and R&B. These songs are culled from the vaults of Motown staff drummer Lawrence Carroll’s Phoenix, AZ label Raina Records. Barnes and Carroll met performing at Harlem’s famed Apollo theater. Immediately captivated by Barnes charismatic performance, Carroll kept tabs on the singer and inked him to his newly formed Raina label; ultimately releasing several singles across the decades.
