Charity Lockhart
Vocalist Charity Lockhart is the daughter of a Pentecostal pastor and a music teacher mother. She grew up immersed in gospel music and as a young girl studied violin, piano, classical and jazz vocals. Charity began entertaining audiences at the age of six, by twelve; she was the lead singer in the teen band Revelation, who opened for top gospel artists including Commissioned and the Mississippi Mass Choir. Charity studied music performance at Wright State University in Ohio, after graduating she performed in Italy, Germany, and Switzerland before returning to the U.S. Soon Charity was working with the incredible Soul vocalist Melba Moore landing the role of a young Melba Moore in the national touring company of “Still Standing.”
Unfortunately things took a downturn and life in her native Ohio became intolerable. Charity packed up her two young children, musical instruments, $100, and a trash bag filled with clothes and drove to Phoenix, Arizona. She lived in her car and performed in nightclubs until she had enough resources to rent an apartment. It didn’t take long for Charity to rebuild her career and she now splits her time between Arizona and Japan (where she tours each summer). When not traveling or performing, Charity enjoys teaching at the Boys and Girls Club of America. She also created Live To Love Enterprises to help youth of all cultures communicate their passions in Art & Music.
