The Father Figures

The Father Figures began creating their unique blend of post-punk, desert-tinged, skate rock in 2009 when Michael Cornelius, Tom Reardon, and Bobby Lerma first jammed together over Memorial Day weekend on a lark. They were not looking to start a band, but they quickly became a force of nature in the Phoenix music scene with their Minutemen meets Mission of Burma meets early Dinosaur Jr. sound.

The pedigree of The Father Figures is worth mentioning as all three collaborators have been part of many successful bands prior to coming together. Cornelius, who plays guitar and lends backing vocals, was an original member of skate punk legends, Jody Foster’s Army (aka JFA), as well as playing in Jr. Chemists, and Housequake. Reardon, who plays bass and sings lead, was a founding member of bands like Hillbilly Devilspeak, Pinky Tuscadero’s White Knuckle Assfuck, and Son of Crackpipe, but also spent a great deal of time in North Side Kings, The Freeze, and Blanche Davidian. Lerma, who plays drums and also sings backing vocals, played with Kluged, Jeff Dahl, and The Voice.

Most recently, The Father Figures released, Heavy Lifting, their fourth full-length album on Slope Records in 2017. Prior to that, they released three full-length records and one EP on AZPX Records starting in 2011.

The Father Figures inked all four releases to Fervor Records in 2020.
