Donna Fargo

Donna Fargo

Grammy Award-winning superstar Donna Fargo is considered one of the top five female country artists of the 1970s. In 1967, before she rose to country royalty, Donna recorded several songs with Arizona studio owner, producer, and label head Floyd Ramsey. Floyd traveled to Nashville to record several songs with Donna’s husband and famed record producer Stan Silver. In turn, Donna traveled to Phoenix to work at Floyd’s famed Audio Recorders of Arizona studio. The result was the Fargo-penned, brokenhearted tearjerker “Lonely Town.” Ultimately, Ramco issued three Donna Fargo singles, but for some reason, “Lonely Town” never found release. The recording languished in the tape vaults of Ramco for five decades until it was discovered by music historian John P. Dixon. In 2022, Ramco, in association with Fervor, released the long-forgotten recording. “Lonely Town” is a fascinating contrast to her breakout 1972 hit “The Happiest Girl in the Whole USA.” Experience Donna Fargo in 1967, at the nascence of her illustrious career.
