Ernie Rowell

Ernie-Rowell

Ernie got his start at age 12 singing with his father, Alabama Country Music legend, Peck Rowell. Peck’s band, The Covered Wagon Boys, were the house band at the Blue Creek Club, which Peck also owned.

In 1967 Ernie formed Blue Creek Records and recorded several singles for the label. And after years playing with some of the best pickers in Alabama, he relocated to the Capital of Country Music, Nashville, Tennessee. Ernie quickly landed a gig as the bassist/vocalist with Grand Ole Opry star Stonewall Jackson. Ernie’s skills were soon in high demand and he found himself recording and touring with the likes of Country icons George Jones, Ray Price, Melba Montgomery, and Mel Tillis.

Songwriting was another one of Ernie’s strengths with his tunes landing on records from Kenny Rogers, George Jones, Gene Watson, Mel Tillis, Johnny Paycheck, Roy Clark, Ray Pillow, and Ricky van Shelton. Ernie inked his extensive back catalog of 1960s/70s recordings to Fervor Records in 2021. Fervor is extremely proud to represent the works of a true Nashville legend, Mr. Ernie Rowell!
