Heart Of Gold

Johnny-Durham-Heart-of-Gold-Album

From Hollywood Studios to Nashville Stages to an Iowa Basement: Johnny Durham’s Heart of Gold Lives Again!

Long before algorithms swallowed the regional airwaves, Johnny Durham was the quiet architect of mid-century Americana. Landing in Hollywood in 1949, Durham became a versatile songwriter and session man with credits on Capitol, Columbia and Mercury. He parlayed his West Coast success into a career in Nashville that carried him all the way to the Grand Ole Opry stage. By the early 1960s, he traded the spotlight for a basement recording studio in Cedar Falls, Iowa and distilled decades of industry prestige into the songs that fill “Heart of Gold.” Though Johnny passed too soon in 1977, Fervor Records is proud to present these recordings as a legacy as warm and enduring as their title.
