Jim Vining’s solo work is a must for fans of great songwriting, straightforward storytelling, and captivating melodies. If Gordon Lightfoot and Hoyt Axton had a keyboard whiz for a spiritual son, it would be Jim Vining. The singing pianist spent a good number of years playing or doing behind the scenes work with the likes of Country legends including Ray Price, Loretta Lynn, and Wilf Carter (Montana Slim). Vining went on to sign some of his late 60s and early 70s recordings to Fervor Records. In 2019 the label released Pound One Out, an excellent example of Vining’s late 60s and early 70s sound.
