Johnny Amoroso

Well known as a featured vocalist in the 40s and 50s for both the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra and Jack Pleis and His Orchestra, Johnny Amoroso performed on releases from such prestigious labels as MGM, RCA Victor, Decca and Polydor.  Johnny’s charismatic performances extended beyond his silky smooth voice. He was also an equally gifted and sought after brass player. Amoroso manned the trumpet and trombone for Bing Crosby throughout the 50s, and in 1961 played the prominent solo featured on Bing’s hit rendition of the Sammy Kaye classic “Welcome Home.” In 1968 Amoroso teamed with NYC songwriters Louis dePasquale and Zelda Cohen. Johnny brought his hard working quartet into the studio to cut a handful of dePasquale/Cohen tunes. The result is a half dozen songs that epitomize the sound of the swinging 60s Rat Pack era, and a welcome addition to Fervor Records.
