RIVALS

RIVALS

RIVALS burst onto the Delaware Valley music scene with their explosive fusion of high-octane alternative pop/rock and gritty dance grooves. Schoolmates and burgeoning songwriters Keith Allen and E.J. Johnson formed the quintet, which quickly became known for dynamic live performances and magnetic stage presence. In the mid-to-late 1980s, RIVALS packed clubs, earned critical acclaim, and captured the attention of regional radio. Their résumé includes standout appearances at Philly-Fest, WMMR’s Live Broadcast Series (three consecutive years), Sunshine Aid at La Salle University, WPST’s 15th Anniversary Celebration, and the Philadelphia River Spectacular for MS. Their recordings were featured on the 1985 Philly for Philly compilation, as well as WPST’s Unsigned Heroes album. RIVALS also landed airplay and guest spots on WMMR (Philadelphia), WPST (Trenton), WSTW (Wilmington), and nearly every college station across the Delaware Valley. Today, RIVALS’ emblematic ’80s anthems reside at Fervor Records, sparking a well deserved new generation of fans.
