Robert “One-Man” Johnson

Robert One Man Johnson

The artistry of a one-man band goes far beyond the novelty of a solo performance. And when your name echoes that of one of the most legendary bluesmen, expectations naturally run high. Yet, beginning in the late 1960s, Wisconsin native Robert “One-Man” Johnson forged a remarkably diverse career, mastering the nuances of guitar, harmonica, hi-hat, and foot piano.

Blending blues-driven Americana with sheer determination, Johnson’s music is a testament to what one man can accomplish with passion and dedication. A seasoned solo artist and prolific songwriter, Johnson has toured the world extensively, sharing the stage with legendary musicians such as Bonnie Raitt, Muddy Waters, John Prine, Leon Redbone, Willie Dixon, James Cotton, Mose Allison, Koko Taylor, John Hammond Jr., and Luther Allison. He was also a featured favorite on Garrison Keillor’s long-running radio show, A Prairie Home Companion, making five appearances.

Now, his 1978 Housedog Records LP, 54 Chevrolet Panel Truck Blues, is available from Fervor Records!
