Steve Carell and Keira Knightly Find Comfort With The Steam Machine In Seeking A Friend..
“The end is coming June 22nd”
Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World, an apocalyptic rom-com with Steve Carell and Keira Knightly launches this weekend into theaters nationwide, and asks the audience to consider how they’d spend their time if there were only three weeks remaining before a giant meteor hit the earth.
While other characters are indulging in materialistic fantasies, the protagonists go on a journey to find lost loves, family and ultimately something more meaningful.
During their trip, the eerily appropriate song “Road To Nowhere” (Talking Heads) adds to the emotional impact of the characters’ search for depth, as does the nostalgic 1968 cut “Home To Sacramento”, by British Invasion band The Steam Machine.
Another track by The Steam Machine (“Let The Feeling Begin”) can be heard in the 2012 Jonah Hill comedy The Sitter. Both tracks and more by the English rock group are nestled in the Fervor Records compilation of quintessential Sunshine Pop and Psych Rock, Cult Hits of the 1960’s, Volume 2 (available on iTunes).
