Crooners rose to prominence in American Pop culture with icons such as Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin leading the way. This popular vocal style soon dominated radio, television, and the box office. Armed with good looks, charismatic personalities and golden voices, Crooners were the vehicle that literally made the Great American Songbook.

Bing Crosby averages over 50 million listeners to his weekly radio show, which ran for 12 years. Frank Sinatra starred in 56 films and regularly sold out venues such as Radio City Music Hall for six week runs. A slew of Crooners also skyrocketed to the top of the charts including Perry Como, Tony Bennett, Bobby Vinton, Eddie Fischer, Vic Damone, Eddy Arnold, Sammy Davis Jr., Bobby Darin, Mel Torme, Andy Williams, Pat Boone, Louie Prima, Johnny Mathis, Frankie Avalon and the list goes on.

The Fervor Records Vintage Masters release Crooners: 1954-1968 focuses on three incredible voices that showcase this era of the Crooner movement. We invite you to experience a few lesser known golden voices of the generation. Johnny Amoroso, who replaced Ol’ Blue Eyes in Tommy Dorsey & His Orchestra; as well as the early recordings of Fervor Records favorites, Bob Kelly and Jay Ramsey. This duo went on to write for artists including Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent.

As always, the stories behind the songs and artists are available in the liner notes. So pour yourself a cocktail, dim the lights and power up the hi-fi for Crooners: 1954-1968.
