Chuck Hall’s power trio, The Brick Wall, was a mainstay in Tempe, AZ’s vibrant music scene throughout the ’80s and early ’90s. However, by 1993, Scott Andrews (bass) and Mark Riggs (drums) left the band to join former Gin Blossom and hit songwriter, Doug Hopkins, in his new endeavor, The Chimeras, along with Live Nudes alumni Mark Zubia and Lawrence Zubia.
That didn’t slow Chuck down. He quickly enlisted Rick “EZ” Brown (bass) and Don “Jr.” Phillips (drums) and in 1995 recorded the CD “Blues Dawgs.” By 1998, Brown had been replaced by well-respected Phoenix bassist Junior Cota, and the trio hit the studio again to record the CD “III.” Drummer David Gamboa later replaced Phillips — now Chuck was backed by a rock-solid Latino rhythm section that brought another dimension to “The Chuck Hall Band.” That incarnation went on to record “The Chuck Hall Band – Live!” in 2001. Fervor Records issued “Hillbilly Wild” in 2014 and is proud to be home to The Chuck Hall Band’s stellar catalog.
Chuck Hall has been bringing his rip-roaring brand of blues rock to audiences worldwide for nearly 40 years. Chuck has gigged extensively in venues large and small, both as a solo act and with his legendary powerhouse trios, “Chuck Hall and The Brick Wall” and “The Chuck Hall Band.” Hall has shared the stage with such luminaries as B.B. King, Gregg Allman, Willie Dixon, and Charlie Musselwhite, to name a few. His guitar mastery also landed him a steady gig as a clinician with the iconic guitar brand Fender. The distinguished blues maestro appears in many of Fender’s marketing campaigns as well.
Chuck’s affiliation with Fervor Records dates back to 1992 when he appeared on the label’s second and third releases, “Arizona Unplugged” followed by “Blue Saguaro.” He joined Hans Olson on his 1992 (Fervor imprint) Blond Sun Records release “Who’s Trying To Run My Life.” In 2014, he was featured on two Fervor releases: Hans Olson’s “Dust To Dust” and Big Pete Pearson’s “Steppin’ Out.” In 2018, Chuck joined forces with fellow bluesman Paris James on the Fervor release “Where The Big Dogs Play.” With hundreds of published songs under his belt, this prolific tunesmith continues to entertain audiences around the globe both on tour and through placements in prestigious films, TV shows, and ad campaigns.
